Do Muslims Love Jesus?

There has been a substantial amount of conversation this week about a picture that President Trump put out on social media. The picture is a painting that has Trump dressed in clothing you would normally see Jesus wearing in various paintings. Trump is then touching the forehead of someone who is sick almost as if he was healing this person. In the background there is the American flag, various nurses, soldiers, bald eagles and American monuments and other figures, presumably angels in a silhouette type of form. This drew immediate criticism from pretty much everyone. The obvious conclusion everyone had is that the President was depicting himself as the Messiah healing Americans. Basically Trump was depicting himself as Jesus. Possibly meaning he is the saviour of America. As you can imagine, nobody was short on opinions about this regardless of political leanings. Some wondered if it may have been a staffer that did this and not really the President. Yet, when asked about it, Trump stated that someone sent him the picture and that Trump was the one who put it up on social media. His explanation was he thought it was depicting him as a doctor, not as Jesus. The picture has since been taken down. Regardless of Trump’s explanation, the picture was one depicting Christ and it was clear that Trump views himself at the very least as a Christ-like figure. This is complete heresy. This is sinful on so many levels. Trump was completely wrong to post the picture. This goes to show the pride, selfishness and ego he has. I never believed him as being a Christian, but if there was any allusions out there, this certainly cinches it that he is very lost. Instead of viewing himself as a savior, he needs The Savior in his life.
It unfortunately didn't end there. One of the critics on this picture was political commentator Tucker Carlson. In writing about Trump’s post he said, “The people in charge don't want you to know this, but Muslims love Jesus. Islam reveres Him as a major prophet and messenger of the Lord, believes He performed miracles, and states that He will return to Earth to defeat the Antichrist. That's why Donald Trump's painting depicting himself as the Son of God offended the president of Iran. It was an attack on his religion as well as Christianity.” This was a surprising tact to take. Instead of just attacking Trump and the picture he posted, he goes out of his way to defend Islam. While everyone was upset about Trump offending Christians and committing heresy, here is Tucker going “Hey wait! Don’t forget about the Muslims too!”  And what is very interesting is in the way he worded it. He carefully worded it in a deceitful way to pair Christianity and Islam together. In his criticism of Trump he not only defended Islam, but basically said these two faiths can be cohesive together. That the “powers that be” don’t want us to realize that Muslims and Christians can live in harmony together. That they are really not that far apart. To be completely blunt; it comes across as how a Muslim would want Christians to think about them. It sounds like propaganda in a way. But the main thing to reflect on is, is Tucker right? Do Muslims love Jesus? Do they believe that Jesus will defeat evil just like Christians do? Can Christians live coherently with Muslims, arm and arm, fighting for the same causes for Jesus?
The short answer is yes and no. Yes Muslims do honor Jesus. Yes they view Him as a prophet just like Christians do. But no, we do not believe the same. No, they do not view Jesus like we do. While, yes, they do view Him as a prophet, no they do not view Him as our Savior. Or more importantly; they do not view Jesus as God. Because of this, no, we can not work coherently together. They do not love Jesus as we do. They do not worship Him and glorify Him as we do because they do not believe Him to be God. “The Messiah son of Mary was only a messenger, before whom other Messengers had passed away, and his mother was a woman of truth. They both used to eat food. Note how We make clear the revelations to them; then note how deluded they are.” (Qurano 5:75)  Academic Badru Kateregga said, “Muslims do respect the Messiah, Jesus, profoundly, but they do not believe that he is therefore superior to all prophets. In fact, the Quran affirms that Jesus foretold the coming of the Seal of the Prophets [Muhammad].” So a better word to use for describing how Muslims are to Jesus is “respect”, not love. Christian apologist Norman Geisler said in his book on Islam, “Both the Quran and the universal opinion of Muslims vehemently insists that Jesus is not the divine Son of God. The Quran is filled with verses that speak against the idea of God begetting a son. In 19:35 we read, ‘It is not for God to have a child—glory be to Him. To have anything done, He says to it, “Be,” and it becomes.’...it is a mistake to think that…we can entertain the thought that Islam portrays Christ as someone more than a mere prophet.” Minister and scholar Kenneth Cragg said, “the fascinating situation in Islam is that virgin birth stands alone, does not serve or effectuate, incarnation, indeed quite excludes it. Mary is understood as the virgin mother of the prophet Isa. She gave birth to him without human intervention in order that he and she may be signs and that his prophethood…may enter the world.”
On top of all of this they do not believe that Jesus was crucified either. They believe that God took Jesus back up to heaven but the whole crucifixion and resurrection is just a hoax to them. How they believe Jesus left earth is very much shrouded in mystery. In Quran 4:157-159 it states, “And for their saying, “We have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the Messenger of God. In fact, [the Jews] did not kill him, nor did they crucify him, but it appeared to them as if they did. Indeed, those who differ about him are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it, except the following of assumptions. Certainly, they did not kill him. Rather, God raised him up to Himself. God is Mighty and Wise. There is none from the People of the Scripture but will believe in him before his death, and on the Day of Resurrection he will be a witness against them.” Abdullah Yusuf Ali  a prominent Muslim scholar and translator of the Quran to English, commented on this passage saying, “That they said, (in boast), ‘We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Apostle of God’ But they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them and those who differ. Therein are full of doubts with no certain knowledge. But only conjecture to follow. For of a surety they killed him or not. Nay, God raises him up unto Himself; and God is exalted in power, wise; and there is none of the people of the book but must believe in him before his death. And on the day of judgement he will be a witness against them.” So while Muslims view Jesus as a prophet and have a level of respect for Him, they do not believe in Him the way Christians do. They do not believe Him to be God. They do not believe Him to have been crucified. They do not believe He rose from the grave three days later. Therefore they do not believe Him to be our savior. Or to put it more directly: they do not believe the truth about Jesus. Therefore Muslims do not believe in Jesus at all.
Then there is also still the whole undertone of what Tucker had to say. The idea that christians and Muslims can coexist. But this too is naive and incorrect. The teachings of Islam specifically call Muslims to reject anyone that doesn’t believe like they do. The term they use is kafir or an unbeliever. Specifically against Jews and Christians the Quran says, “O you who believe! Do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies; some of them are allies of one another. Whoever of you allies himself with them is one of them. God does not guide the wrongdoing people.” (5:51) Also, “Whoever seeks other than Islam as a religion, it will not be accepted from him, and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers.” (3:85) And all outsiders are to be conquered and are to subdue to Muslims. In fact that is the literal translation of the word Islam: submission. In Quran 9:29 it specifically says, “Fight those who do not believe in God, nor in the Last Day, nor forbid what God and His Messenger have forbidden, nor abide by the religion of truth—from among those who received the Scripture—until they pay the due tax, willingly or unwillingly and feel themselves subdued.” This is why so many Islamic nations arrest, torture and execute Christians. According to the Open Doors US World Watch List 2026, 9 of the top 10 countries with the most severe persecution are heavily impacted by the religion of Islam. And if not by force, then they will try to subdue the kafir in other ways. The Center for the Study of Political Islam International states that, “Submitting means obeying to Allah and to Mohammed (12). Mohammed's words and actions set the standard for all aspects of human behavior, social and personal, including law, business, art, family, religion, history, sex, etc. The final vision of Political Islam is therefore the replacement of all civilizations with the Islamic one, as occurred in Mecca and Yathrib.” This is why in some towns and cities across America Muslims are running for office and when they win they try to impose sharia law. This is why they are currently trying to change the politics and culture in many nations across Europe. To think that we can live in harmony with a religion that is so cold, sinful and domineering as this is ignorant. To think that we are similar in any way would mean you believe that Muslims would go against their own religious convictions. Christian politician Nick Freitas used to be in the Army and deployed in many nations that were ruled by Islam. Commenting on Tucker’s article he said, “Islam rejects Jesus, denies His divinity and mandates that Christians be either killed, converted or treated as second class citizens.”
The irony of it all is that Tucker was trying to show the blasphemy of the President posting this picture. What he actually did was show how Trump, Islam and himself are all heretics. “Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.” (1 John 2:22)
